⚠️ Update - The Boil Water Advisory has been extended until the 25th ⚠️

The City of Morden is dedicated to ensuring the safety and reliability of our water supply. As part of our ongoing maintenance efforts, we will be temporarily shutting off the water service in the Alvey, Maple, and Poplar Street areas. This essential maintenance work is necessary to address any potential issues and improve the overall quality of the water supply.

To ensure that all residents are well-informed about the upcoming service interruption and boil water advisory, our city staff will be going directly to the affected houses to distribute notices. See the affected properties map below.

During this time, it is important to be aware of the potential risks associated with distribution depressurization. The safety of our water supply may be compromised, which is why we are issuing a boil water advisory. We kindly request that all water users in the affected areas follow the necessary precautions listed below once the water service has been restored.

Boil Water Advisory Precautions:

  1. Boiling Water: All water used for drinking, ice making, preparing beverages (such as infant formula), preparing food, and brushing teeth should be brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute.

  2. Tap Water for Household Purposes: It is not necessary to boil tap water used for activities like laundry or washing dishes. Adult and older children who can avoid swallowing the water can safely wash, bathe, or shower. However, it is recommended that young children be sponge-bathed.

  3. Alternate Water Supply: If boiling water is not feasible, it is important to use an alternate and safe water supply for drinking and cooking purposes. Tap water can be stored in clean containers specifically designated for drinking water. Additionally, we suggest filling the bathtub with water to use for toilet flushing during the service interruption.

We understand the inconvenience that this maintenance work may cause, but the safety of our water supply is our top priority. We anticipate receiving water test results by July 25, 2023. Unless otherwise notified, you can begin normal water use after that time.

Should you have any questions or concerns regarding the boil water advisory or the maintenance work, please do not hesitate to contact our Utilities Department at 204-822-5119.
