Garage Sales

During the summer months of the year, many people have garage sales and yard sales or auictions where they sell second-hand clothing, furniture, toys and household items. Garage sale information can be found in the newspaper and on the Garage Sale board at the Tourist Information Booth located on 11th Street and Thornhill Street. If you would like to hold a Garage Sale, there are signs available, free of charge, at thhe Morden Civic Centre located at 195 Stephen Street.

Farmers MarketMorden's Farmers Market

Every Thursday between June & October, there is a weekly Farmers Market held downtown from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm, weather permitting. Morden Farmers Market offers the best in locally produced meats, vegetables, baking and many other products. For more information visit www.mordenchamber.com .

 

Second Hand Stores

To save money on household items and clothing, many people shop at second hand stores. The Morden Community Thrift Shop located at 484 Stephen Street is run by volunteers. Many community projects are supported by the money raised.

Sales Tax

The federal government charges a 5% Goods and Services Tax (GST) on all sales except for most food items and medications. The provincial government of Manitoba charges a 7% Provincial Sales Tax (PST) on the purchase price of most items.

Shopping at locally owned businesses will help to build the community. These businesses contribute to the development of cultural and community services, which are so important to any community.
